The Communications/Security Technical Specialist II installs, services, and provides customer support for CCTV cameras, card access, and various Electronic Security Panels. Aside from technical knowledge, this role requires accurate, detail-driven documentation to be completed and submitted in a timely manner.
Our clients include K-12 public school districts, colleges and universities, government entities, and small, medium, and enterprise-level commercial businesses, many of which require stringent background clearances. These clients are predominantly located within the state of Pennsylvania. Travel throughout the state often with occasional overnight stays is necessary.

Who You Are:
A highly motivated team member with a passion for Electronic Security Systems, CCTV cameras, and Card Access Systems who would like to contribute to the growth of the Security/Communications Life Safety Division at BSGI. You are someone who wants to provide World Class service to our customers through continued education and growth in the Security industry. The position entails:
- Installing, networking, programming, and maintaining Electronic Security Systems
- Commissioning and modifying basic communication/security systems
- Testing system operations and completing documentation
- Working and becoming familiar with CATV, Wireless, IP and/or Networking standards
- Reading, interpreting, and updating construction and security drawings
- Communicating daily work progress with State Agency Project Manager and/or Service Supervisor
- Providing customer technical support and training as needed
- Completing service acknowledgements on all calls or projects daily
- On-Call rotation
- Occasional inspections of existing Electronic Security Systems required
- Anything necessary to contribute to the success of the Security/Communications Life Safety Division
Where You'll Be Located:
- The ideal candidate would reside in Eastern, Central, or Southern Pennsylvania within reasonable driving distance to our Reading, PA office. Daily commute to the office is not required.
- Daily travel to customer sites primarily throughout the state of Pennsylvania, including our York, PA and State College, PA offices, as well as occasional overnights, is necessary.
- You must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and minimal traffic violations to drive a company vehicle.
What You Bring:
- Strong technical knowledge with an electronics background required
- At least 2 years' experience with Security System installations and hardware/software/network troubleshooting required
- At least 1 fundamental technology certification, such as Access 101, Video Surveillance 101, Networking Fundamentals, etc. required
- At least 2 manufacturer’s certifications, such as Panasonic, Bosch, Crestron, Telecor, etc. required
- Experience commissioning, testing system operations, and completing documentation required
- Intermediate network and cloud-based system knowledge required
- Interpretation of manufacturer documentation, engineered site drawings, scopes of work, and matrices of operations required
- Ability to work at heights on lifts & ladders required
- Solid customer service and communication skills required
- Impeccable organizational and prioritizing skills in a professional setting required
- Leadership and mentorship skills required
- Industry certifications such as IPVM, ASIS, ESA, NICET, CompTIA, AVIXA, etc. a plus
Physical Requirements:
Physical Fitness: Possess the physical ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, and access elevated areas to inspect system components installed at various heights.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must have hand dexterity to manipulate and handle materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis. Any lifting over 50 pounds will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
Mobility: Ability to move freely and safely within tight spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and other areas where systems are installed.
Vision: Possess visual acuity in at least one (1) eye of 20/40 or better combined vision without corrective lenses or over 20/70 combined vision with corrective lenses. Possess ability to distinguish colors.
